received some packages and cards from the people of Hartford and would
like to express my appreciation. I wish to thank the citizens of
Hartford and the Mothers of World War II for the very nice gifts. It
certainly makes a fella feel good to know that the folks back home are
thinking of their boys overseas.

It gives us fellows here a grand feeling to know that the
folks at home are always thinking of us. I wish I could tell you about
the things I’m doing here, but the navy says no. Say hello to the
people of Hartford for me.
