Who are the real heroes?
One of Hartford’s own gives a good explanation … I think you’ll agree.
As a country and community, we owe much to the
men and women who served so bravely during times of war and peace…many
never returning to the families they loved. To honor them for the
extreme sacrifices they made, this section is dedicate to all the
Hartford-Keeler men and women who served our country in military
service. We appreciate their dedication and sacrifice to
preserve freedom in America. We thank your families for the
hardships and scars they also endured while separated from you
and possible loss of their family member.
To submit military information from this website:
If you served in the military, or know of a friend or relative who did, and
lived in the Hartford-Keeler area at any time (length of service –
wounded, killed in action or not, doesn’t make a difference for submission
to the website…still want the information) and your name is not
shown on this site, follow the instructions below and a profile will be
added.
1. Use the
Military On-Line
Submit Information (or see left menu link…just under the Military
icon)
OR click here to download
information in .pdf file format to print out
and
send in. You MUST have Adobe Reader to open and read this file.
Most computers already have Adobe Reader – if you don’t have this program,
it can be downloaded FREE from
www.adobe.com. Be sure to let the webmaster know if you have
problems opening the .pdf file and the form will be emailed directly to
you.
2. Then, send a photo in uniform from
within and email or as an attachment to the
webmaster (save in .jpg or .jpeg file format
at 75 dpi resolution). If you have problems sending or don’t
quite understand how to email photos, email the webmaster and I will try
to walk you through the process…it really isn’t hard to do.
The
information and photo will be proudly displayed with the other military personnel to
whom we are so deeply indebted. For those who do not have email,
please contact Emma Sefcik, (269) 621-4349. If you have a photo to
be scanned for inclusion to this site, but don’t have a scanner, let me know, I will be happy
to meet with you if in the local area.

Taps
Day is done, gone the
sun,
From the hills, from the lake,
From the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.
Go to sleep, peaceful
sleep,
May the soldier or sailor,
God keep.
On the land or the deep,
Safe in sleep.
Love, good night, Must
thou go,
When the day, And the night
Need thee so?
All is well. Speedeth all
To their rest.
Fades the light; And
afar
Goeth day, And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well; Day has gone,
Night is on.
Thanks and praise, For
our days,
‘Neath the sun, ‘Neath the stars,
‘Neath the sky,
As we go, This we know,
God is nigh.
